Out of the 5 640 km² of Danube Delta, more than 13 percents is water surface, formed by hundreds of lakes, channels and streams.
Here you can find around 110 species of fish from sturgeons to carps, breams and perches¡ 36 of these species belong to the delta proper (the delta provides 50 percent of the fresh-water fish production of Romania.).
Species like crucians, carps and breams are on a constant increase.
Fishing in Danube delta is allowed all time of the year, with the exception of the time from the 21st of April until 19th of June inclusive, when fish spawn their roe.
